Two years ago the UK was targeting an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 compared to 1990. In April, coinciding with Earth Day, the government announced acceptance of the Climate Change Committee’s recommendation for the sixth carbon budget which sets us on course for a 78% reduction by 2035.

This article describes how carbon-intense sectors are going to evolve to meet this ambitious target.
