Welcome to Nuveen's 9 th
annual Farmland report, which chronicles their progress in achieving a range of sustainability goals across their farmland portfolio, comprising 2.2 million acres in seven countries.
For the first time, this report was written by Westchester’s Environmental, Social and Governance (
) committee, which was formed in 2019 with members from across the organisation. The committee has already risen to its expansive responsibility: to lead
innovation and implementation across the farmland portfolio.
Agriculture employs two billion people worldwide and provides the means to feed a growing global population that will demand as much as 50% more food by 2050 compared with 2010.
Westchester is committed to helping the world meet these challenges through strong leadership, innovation and accountability. Nuveen continue to evolve their approach to
and to provide tools for setting and achieving goals.
This report also provides country-level maps with granular data including, for the first time, carbon footprint. These maps will make it easier to visualise the 2019 achievements and challenges. The interactive mapping tool offers some of this data through a bird’s-eye view of the locations and crop types for each of our properties. Throughout the report, you will find numerous examples of Nuveen's sustainability initiatives. To the extent that anything on this website constitutes a financial promotion it is exempt from the general prohibition in S21 of FSMA on the basis that the site is only intended for investment professionals as such term is defined in S19 of the Financial Promotions Order.
