Quinbrook's Hilkka Komulainen, Global Head of Sustainability, and Mark Burrows, Managing Director, Head of European Capital Formation, will discuss local job creation, local supply chain management, traceability of supply chains, and beyond. 

This session will also cover ongoing changes to the UK energy grid and the Government’s Clean Power 2030 (CP30) initiative – a strategic action plan aimed at delivering a fully clean power system by 2030. CP30 reflects the Government’s long-term commitment strategic approach to decarbonisation and forward planning, which create visibility for investors.

Speakers

Mark Burrows, Managing Director, Head of Capital Formation in Europe, Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners

Mark is responsible for investor engagement, liaison and project management of capital-raising programmes. He has 19 years of experience in the institutional funds management and finance sectors. Before joining Quinbrook, Mark was a Director and Head of Institutional Capital at Foresight Group between 2008 –2016. At Foresight, he led institutional fundraising efforts, successfully raising US$600mn from 20 limited partners and co-investors, which helped to transition Foresight from a retail-funded manager to an institutionally funded business.

Prior to Foresight, he worked as a Prime Brokerage Analyst at Goldman Sachs and before then, as a business development executive at Invicta Capital. He holds a BA (Hons) in Economics and French Studies from Oxford Brookes University.

Hilkka Komulainen, Global Head of Sustainability and Impact, Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners

Hilkka joined Quinbrook in 2024 to lead their sustainability strategy and serves on theinvestment committee. Hilkka joined from Aegon UK, one of the UK’s largest defined contribution pension providers, where she established and led the responsible investment team, overseeing their climate and stewardship efforts, leading efforts to invest in the energy transition and serving in the investment leadership team.  

Before Aegon, Hilkka led the responsible investment strategy at Inter Fund Management, part of the Interogo Foundation/IKEA and held roles at EY, the Principles for Responsible Investment, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the United Nations. Hilkka is a co-chair of the UK Department for Work and Pensions taskforce on social factors and is an active participant in industry dialogue, having served on the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance and the steering committee of the UK Asset Owner Council.

Laasya Shekaran, Director, Pensions for Purpose 

Laasya is responsible for working with our Community, developing content and knowledge, and driving forward collaborative initiatives across the industry.     

Laasya is passionate about approaching pensions and investment with a systems lens and understanding how these sectors interact with the wider social and environmental systems they exist within.     

Laasya is a CFA charterholder, who has experience working with a range of asset owners as an investment adviser, with a focus on corporate defined benefit pensions. Laasya is a regular speaker at industry conferences and events, and is also an experienced podcast host, and presenter of the Pensions for Purpose podcast. Laasya is an advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion and is particularly passionate about anti-racism activism. She has previously won the Women in Pensions and Women in Investment Rising Star awards.

Pensions for Purpose exists as a bridge between asset managers, pension funds and their professional advisers, to encourage the flow of capital towards impact investment. Our aim is to empower pension funds to seek positive impact opportunities and mitigate negative impact risks.
