In this online roundtable, Clare Wood, portfolio specialist at Stewart Investors, led a discussion about the shortcomings of focusing on carbon in the face of climate change. She suggested taking a broader view that recognises the interconnectedness of environmental and social factors.

The discussion was split into three parts:

  • Introducing Stewart Investors’ long-term approach to investing in high-quality companies both contributing to, and benefitting from, sustainable development.
  • Using Project Drawdown’s solutions as a framework to understand the contributions made by companies to reduce the impact of climate change and biodiversity loss.
  • Providing practical examples of engagement with organisations on climate and biodiversity and social issues:
    • Plastic packaging in India.
    • Circular economy best practices.
    • Smallholder farmers in the supply chain.

Who should attend?

This event was open to asset owners such as pension fund trustees, in-house executives and independent advisers, professional trustees and consultants.
