In light of Pensions for Purpose's latest Impact Lens research on how UK asset owners are navigating diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I), and the launch of The Pensions Regulator's (TPR) largest-ever survey promoting a baseline to measure DE&I progress on pension boards. We invited asset owners, pension fund trustees, professional trustees and investment advisers at various stages of their DE&I journey to attend a Community event.
Karen Shackleton, Chair and Founder of Pensions for Purpose, and Sandisiwe Dhlamini, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead from The Pensions Regulator (TPR), delivered a fireside chat to discuss the main findings from both pieces of research.

Sandisiwe Dhlamini, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead, TPR
Sandie is the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion lead at TPR having joined the organisation in June 2022. She most recently worked at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport as the Head of Policy Transformation and Diversity & Inclusion. She is a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) accredited HR professional with over 10 years’ experience in the public sector.
Over the course of her career, she has worked in the Civil Service and NHS leading on diversity & inclusion, reward, employee relations, change and project management.

Karen has worked in the finance sector for over 30 years. As well as being Founder of Pensions for Purpose, she is Chair of the Strategic Investment Board for the Ministry of Justice and a Non-executive Director and Chair of the Board of Resonance Ltd, a social impact investment company. She sits on the Advisory Council of the Impact Investing Institute.
Karen also provides independent investment advice to the London Boroughs of Islington, Camden and Hounslow through Apex Group. She was the Chief Executive/Managing Director of AllenbridgeEpic Investment Advisers from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that, she had ten years’ experience as a fund manager and director for County NatWest and BZW Investment Management (now BlackRock).
