Tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold, (collectively referred to as ‘conflict minerals’) alongside cobalt, are ubiquitous in modern life, essential components in everything from our personal electronics to the green technologies helping the transition to a lower carbon future. The global demand for these materials  – which are mined predominantly in fragile regions including sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America –  perpetuates cycles of violence, exploitation and human rights abuses.

Analyst and Portfolio Manager, Jack Nelson, and Investment Specialist, Clare Wood, discussed a recent collaborative engagement at Stewart Investors tackling conflict minerals in the semiconductor supply chain. David Brown, Senior Director & Training Lead from Pensions for Purpose, closed the session with Q&A.

Who should attend?

This event was open to asset owners and investment consultants.
