This fireside chat looked at how Tesco pension fund has progressed their thinking and implementation on ESG and impact in light of the continually evolving sustainable investment landscape.
This was chaired and moderated by Martin Pattinson, with questions from the Global Impact Forum’s sponsor Christy Jesudasan of Goldman Sachs Asset Management to Ruston Smith of the Tesco Pension Fund.

Ruston Smith, Chair, Tesco Pension Fund
Ruston has over 35 years experience in the pension fund and investment industry. He is now the Chair of the Tesco Pension Fund (DB and DC) and Tesco Pension Investment Ltd, Non Executive Chair of JP Morgan Asset Management (UK and EMEA), Non Executive Chair of Smart Pension Ltd, Non Executive Chair of Zedra Governance Ltd, Non Executive Chair of the Pensions Management Institute, Independent Trustee and Chair of the Funding and Investment Committee for the BAE Pension Fund, Chair of the AMX Advisory Board, Governor of the PPI and Chair of GroceryAid.
He was on the Bank of England, Treasury and FCA’s Steering Group on Investment in Productive Finance and is also involved with other industry initiatives.
He was Co Chair of the DWP’s 2017 Auto Enrolment Review Board, led the Simpler Annual Statement initiative launched in 2018, chaired the cross regulator and industry ‘Standardised Assumptions Group’, led the recently published Member Costs and Charges Initiative, and was on the Treasury’s Patient Capital DC Steering Group. He is also a former Chair of the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association.
Christy Jesudasan, Head of UK Fiduciary Management Sales, Goldman Sachs Asset Management
Christy joined Goldman Sachs in 2021 to lead the sales and distribution of its UK fiduciary management business. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Christy grew fiduciary management businesses at BMO, Kempen and Mercer.
As an institutional specialist with 25 years of client-facing and sales experience within the pension and investment industry, he brings a wealth of experience in engaging with pension scheme trustees, corporate sponsors and third-party evaluators.
Christy earned a BSc in Mathematics and Management from King’s College London in 1997.
