CDFIs are well established in the US but less well known in the UK. They were set up to promote financial inclusion and economic development among poorer communities. As the UK embraces the Just Transition and Levelling Up agendas, CDFIs have the ability to play an important role attracting both public and private finance.

In this training session, the Impact Investing Institute and their expert guest speakers covered:

  • An introduction to CDFIs.
  • Reflections on the CDFI market in the US and UK.
  • CDFIs as an investment opportunity.

Questions and comments were moderated by Charlotte O’Leary of Pensions for Purpose.

Objective

To learn more about the positive impact CDFIs have in communities across the UK and their potential as an investment opportunity.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge of the work and impact of CDFIs, an understanding of their role in building local economic resilience and appreciation of the emerging investment opportunities presented by the sector.
