Pensions for Purpose and CGF hosted a Paris Alignment Forum morning coffee to discuss how direct investing in clean technologies is essential on the journey to net zero.
It is not enough to encourage companies in existing listed portfolios to reduce their emissions. The reality is, we won’t get to net zero unless investors also put money into creating and scaling up new technologies and solutions in order to provide, develop and commercialise the technology required to reach net zero. Investors need to look urgently at more than listed equities.
Beverly Gower-Jones from CGF led a discussion making the above arguments. She drew upon some of the science that supports this and set out key sectors where investors could consider deploying capital to help achieve net zero.
