The climate crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic are raising awareness amongst the investment community on how investment capital can be redirected to address some of the environment and society’s greatest challenges.

In turn, the investment community is responding to the financial risks and opportunities presented by these challenges and the transition to a sustainable economy. Regulations are influencing trustee decision-making, consultants are coming together through initiatives such as The Sustainability Working Group, and managers are building sustainable and impact strategies. Against this backdrop, the Principles for Impact Investing offer a step-by-step good governance framework for trustees, which also recognises the important role of consultants and asset managers in implementing trustees’ impact goals.
