... On 10th October 2017, Pensions for Purpose was launched at our very first impact investment workshop, held at CASS Business school. The workshop was attended by impact managers, academics, pensions officers and members, as well as local authority pool and government representatives.

In this review, we highlight some of the more interesting insights from the workshop, in particular from the four public sector pension funds whose impact investment strategies we were showcasing. Thanks to Christian Super, Environment Agency Pension Fund, Greater Manchester Pension Fund and Merseyside Pension Fund for their contributions and willingness to share best practice.

As the afternoon progressed, there was a realisation amongst participants that impact investments can have a positive effect on the pension fund’s portfolio, both in financial and impact terms.
