Recently, our Big Issue Invest Annual Impact Report won the 'Best Social Impact' Content Award at the Pensions for Purpose Stakeholder and Awards Event 2023. The judges noted the report “demonstrated best practice ideas that others should follow, with short to the point messages for stakeholders to engage with”. We are honoured to receive this recognition of our work and it reflects our commitment to providing industry-leading reports that build credibility across audiences.

Built on three decades of impact experience, Big Issue Group has pioneered the concept of business as a tool for social change. Our work with investors, asset managers, multinationals, corporate foundations and sector bodies is based on the deep-rooted belief we can create change.

At Big Issue Invest (BII), we provide financial and wrap-around support to organisations achieving positive social outcomes alongside financial returns. Having invested in over 550 social organisations, and advised and managed £400mn AUM, we have been able to demonstrate the demand for this type of investing and the immense potential for change made possible through a bigger social investment sector.

Our latest social impact fund lends to established socially impactful organisations in the UK and is well-positioned to serve the needs of pension funds and trustees who are looking to engage in social issues and align investments to the values of their pension holders, while being acutely aware of the potential longer-term negative impacts of not considering material social risks

We recognise this work is not easy as it requires the necessary resources and expertise to respond effectively and consider the factors associated with this type of investment. This is an area where we are pioneering. Having been at the forefront of impact investing for several decades, we have a dedicated impact advisory service, Big Issue Impact Advisory. Leveraging our in-depth, hands-on impact expertise, we provide integrated support to help those looking to invest, co-create funds or need support with the investor journey. We explore thematic issues, help navigate regulation, develop methodologies, carry out confirmation and verification, and deliver rigorous, impact reporting.

At BII, our impact due diligence tools and processes enable us to make consistent and considered investment decisions, ensuring we are investing in mission-led businesses and we have ways of monitoring outcomes to avoid impact washing. Our expertise and experience is drawn from a track record of launching eight publicly and private listed impact funds spanning climate, employment opportunities, diversity, social care, housing and much more.

Our multi-award-winning impact reports are recognised across the industry. We are able to embed impact evaluation across the financial spectrum, align to the sustainable development goals, and ensure a bottom-up approach to narrate and share the stories of the amazing organisation’s being supported. Our reports build credibility, deliver transparency and connect across audiences.
