Juan David Perez
Intern

I am a Colombian industrial engineer with over ten years of experience in the financial sector. Previously, I worked as a credit risk and capital markets analyst for the largest bank in Colombia, and I have seen the financial industry’s crucial role as a supporter in transitioning to a more sustainable, inclusive and better world. Through actions like the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance, financial institutions can mobilise the needed resources to build a global zero-emissions economy, with the relevance of the alignment of investments and financing with the Paris Agreement.

I am passionate about impact and sustainable investing, and I wanted to gain a deeper understanding of the area by connecting with an organisation related to this field. Fortunately, I got the opportunity to join Pensions for Purpose as an intern as part of my master’s degree in Globalisation, Business and Sustainable Development at the University of East Anglia, and I am thoroughly enjoying the experience. Pensions for Purpose have done an amazing job at bridging the gap between asset managers and pension funds through different channels to mobilise capital towards impact investments.

Outside of work, I enjoy running and doing CrossFit. These sports have taught me excellent lessons in resilience and consistency to achieve my personal goals. I also speak Spanish and English and have lived in three different countries, where I have had the opportunity to meet people from around the world.
